The Driveway
Access to our property is through a 30 foot wide easement
approximately 500 feet long through our neighbor's property. We have a nice solid
gate where the driveway intersects with KC (Kimble County) 181. As soon as
you reach our property you will find that we have improved the road up to the
house.
Getting to the top of our hill was a big challenge. There was a 4 wheel drive road that was put in several years ago that needed to be improved so the land could be accessed by "regular" 2 wheel drive vehicles. The road has a rise of about 200 feet in a distance of 1200 feet with some areas very steep. Kenneth Hoffman of Hoffman Services improved the road by adding additional culverts, leveling out the roadway in some areas and bringing in road base then rolling and compacting the materials. It quickly became obvious that additional work needed to be done to prevent erosion. We had a company from Kerrville, PaveCo Inc., add a tar and chip surface.
Above: the condition of the road when we purchased the land.
These two images show the road after the new road base was applied and before tar
and chip was applied.

with errosion.
