The first step was clearing the building site. Typically trees are bulldozed down then pushed to the side and when permitted, burned. Since we didn't really have any place to pile the debris up, we had it all hauled away.
The pipe sticking up is the well that had already been drilled. The house will be located behind this pipe. There will be a pump house in front of the pipe.
Since the house was being built on a hill, fill material had to be brought in, watered and compacted to obtain a level pad. One corner had to be raised as much as four feet.
