Mesquite mantels
The house has two fireplaces which are back to back. One fireplace is in
the great room the other is on the back patio. Our builder cut down an old
mesquite tree in his yard and had two mantles cut from the tree. These
were then taken to a meat storage locker and put into deepfreeze for a couple of
months to kill any insects residing within the wood. These one of a kind
mantles really add to the character of the house.
Curved archways and rounded corners
The doorways leading from the great room are all arched. Throughout the
house, drywall corners are all rounded.
Underground water faucets
Outdoor faucets were all buried in the ground to prevent freezing.
Underground dryer venting
The utility room is not located on an outside wall. Instead of routing the
dryer vent up and through the attic PVC pipe was run from the utility room
through the slab and out near the garage doors. Since the duct work is
rigid pipe, cleaning should be very easy.
No threshold shower
We had the shower constructed physically challenged ready. Without a
threshold to step over, those in wheelchairs, or crutches should have no trouble
entering/exiting the shower.
